Theatre Director

I’m a British American theatre artist, specialising in new writing, devised work and musical theatre. I was an Artistic Associate of The Bike Shed Theatre, Exeter from 2011 - 2018, and an Associate of Theatre503 from 2004 - 2010.

As a theatre-maker I create visceral work exploring edgy subject matter such as war, mental illness and violence against women. From Terrorist! The Musical (what it says on the tin) to Up the Gary (about the rise and fall of an ordinary Gary Glitter tribute artist), I combine humour, detailed psychology, engaging sound design and visual metaphor to investigate complex topics.

Awards include The New York International Fringe Festival Excellence Award for Outstanding Direction 2007 (All Alone by Gene David Kirk), and multiple award nominations for Whiskey Tango Foxtrot by Rebecca Crookshank (Edfringe/NYC/UK tour) including the Liberty Human Rights Arts Award 2016 & Best Director Broadway World UK Awards 2015.

Audio Producer & Journalist

I’m an award-winning professional storyteller, with a passion for radio, podcasting and journalism. My adventures in audio began in 2018 after a 15-year career as a theatre director and playwright, alongside 10 years as a published academic and lecturer.

My audio success is built on my experience as a theatremaker, and more recently working for flagship programmes and podcasts at the BBC, National Public Radio, The Guardian, and Bloomberg, as well as long-form narrative on Heist with Michael Caine for Audible. 🇺🇸 in 🇬🇧

Currently a podcast producer on the narrative daily podcast Big Take and weekly Big Take Asia for Bloomberg News.
